This teaching is the first of eight in my upcoming Bozeman Summer Series. Live at Strength & Grace Studio.
Return to the roots of yoga, where practice becomes how you live, not just something you do. MORE INFO HERE>>>
Understanding and applying the foundational teachings of the Yamas offers a pathway for bringing yoga into daily life through small, meaningful shifts in how we think, move, and respond.
Be what you want to see in the world.
The Yamas are often translated as restraints or abstinences, pointing to what not to do. But in lived practice, they invite us into something much more powerful—an expression of our true nature. At our core, we are kind, truthful, honest, balanced, and trusting. It is the outer influences of life that pull us away from this knowing. Yoga invites us back.
This first session explores the first limb which consists of five guiding principles for living yoga day by day:
Yoga is a way of living. It extends far beyond the physical postures and into how we relate to ourselves, to others, and to the world around us. Through these teachings, we begin to cultivate awareness not only in the body, but in our thoughts, our reactions, and our choices.
Everything in your life is a reflection of a choice you have made. If you want a different result, make a different choice. Gaining the skill to choose how we think, how we respond, and how we show up may be one of the most meaningful adventures we take as human beings.
Remember, as you practice yoga, it doesn't matter what you can or cannot do. What matters is how you feel and who you choose to be along the way.
Ask yourself...
Where can I soften? How can I be more aligned? Who am I choosing to be today?
