Mind Your Mantra

This is What’s Happening now.

Eyes peel open to the early morning sunshine dancing through the windows as the sun begins to rise over the eastern hilltop.  My casita is flooded with the promise of a new day. Visions of what lies ahead begins scrolling through as a to-do list in my  mind.

But wait…stop that.

Let’s not go there. Let’s make a change and instead of creating expectations (that are more often than not unmet) let’s embrace this precious moment.

How do I feel beneath my soft sheets? What birds are chattering in the yard? Who do I want to be today? Ahhh, the silence that surrounds me.

Now that’s a shift and I’m committing to consistency so this becomes my new norm. Awaken, not to the to-dos, but to the moment with all of my senses. 

It’s not easy changing rhythms. We are creatures of habit. Especially in our mind.

However, I'm finding that as I commit to just 10 minutes of core strengthening each day, I feel it translating to other areas of my life. There’s a rise in enthusiasm to commit to alternative choices. The urge to purge unnecessary stuff and unhealthy habits is being fueled by the strength I am building in my body.  Somatics in action.

Best of all, there’s a settling into the present. An openness for what's to come, a curiosity toward the unfolding of my days. A change from charging forth to make things happen. Instead, watching what is happening and then responding. 

My mantra: "This is what's happening now."

By connecting to my physical core, I find myself connecting more deeply to my core desires in the core of the moment.  Desires that are in alignment with my core beliefs.
