You are here for a reason.
Today's reflection is inspired by a remarkable book, The Well-Lived Life by Dr. Gladys McGarey—a 103-year-old pioneer and co-founder of the American Holistic Medical Association. I aspire to live as she did. Her first teaching for a well-lived life is simple and profound:
Find your juice.
You are here to live fully.
To reconnect with what moves you.
To awaken your inner spark.
Right now, place your hand gently on your heart.
Take a deep breath.
Feel that steady rhythm within.
This is where your soul lives.
Whenever you feel out of sync with life, return to this gesture.
Let your own heartbeat remind you of the immense love that lives inside.
Then, softly ask:
What do I love?
And listen.
Ask again.
What DO I love?
Let the answers rise—some may be clear, others like flickers of memory.
Moments when you felt radiant, aligned, filled with purpose.
Was it with your family? Your community? Your work in the world?
Think back to the earliest time you felt that joy.
Let your heart speak. Feel it open and expand.
My mind floats back to third grade. My teacher, Mrs Zimbaldi, inspired my love of learning so much that my heart knew that I, too, would be a teacher. Of course, at that moment, I imagined the traditional classroom setting. However, the universe has a way fulfilling our dreams in ways we could never imagine, only better.
Flash forward. Consider your life today.
What small act could awaken your joy now?
Something simple. Something true.
I hope this love letter awakens something new in you, as that is my joy as a teacher.
Now, take a small piece of paper.
Write a word or draw an image that captures what you love.
What gives you life?
Place it somewhere visible—or carry it with you.
Let it become your compass for the day.
This practice connects you to your purpose—
and purpose is the source of vitality. The point of your arrow.
It’s what keeps us youthful, no matter our age.
This is just one of the soulful inquiries we’ll explore together during the Wise Women Wilding retreat in Costa Rica. What makes us come alive?
But why wait?
Start now.
Hand on your heart.
Ask yourself again—
What do I LOVE?
And listen.
