It takes more than Meditation

Here’s the truth: it’s perfectly human to struggle with reality, to feel anxious about the state of the world, and to find it hard to self-regulate some days. I've been hearing a lot from women navigating these feelings. The idea that we can simply “breathe deeper, meditate more, and fix it with mindset” feels misleading.

Learning to soothe and regulate our nervous system is the practice of our times. To sit with ourselves, honor our feelings, and still be gentle. And let’s be honest—that’s easier said than done.

Since moving to Costa Rica, I’ve had many moments of sitting with it all—without the immediate comfort of close friends nearby. It’s been a powerful teacher in resourcing myself (and also revealing where I still have more to learn and grow).

As autumn approaches and the season turns, I’ll be sharing ways to balance body, mind, and soul with Ayurvedic wisdom. Join me tomorrow—Tuesday, Sept 23—for the Block Party where we’ll explore daily and seasonal rhythms to align with nature, both within and all around.

Here are a few grounding practices for this autumn transition:

 Validate your feelings instead of pushing them away. Dance, walk, or move your body to shift stuck energy. If anxiety rises, pause and listen—maybe your body needs rest, maybe it needs space. (We all know this, but reminders help!)

 Nourish yourself with warm, cooked meals—soups, stews, and my favorite: simple Kitchari. This Ayurvedic staple combines healing foods that nourish deeply without taxing digestion. (I’ll introduce its role in a seasonal cleanse during my 6-week Simple Soulful Immersion starting in October.)

 Offer yourself a warm oil self-massage in the morning or evening. A simple way to reconnect lovingly with your body.

 Notice who and what makes you contract—and who helps you soften and expand. Trust your gut, and honor your boundaries.

These small rituals, practiced with consistency, create the sweetest sense of connection with yourself. From that inner clarity and steadiness, life naturally feels lighter, calmer, and more spacious.
