Finding Your Groove

living your yoga Jul 20, 2026

“Am I doing it wrong?"

"I don’t want to do it wrong.”

“I’m afraid I’m doing this wrong.”

I hear these thoughts in yoga class and they show up in many forms, but they really don’t support you.

What if you shifted the question?

Am I grounded?

Am I open?

What am I feeling?

How can I make this feel good?

When things are aligned—when we’re vibrating, resonating, connecting—there’s a sense of contentment that arises from deep within. It’s touching the center of the center of the center. This moment is often called being “in the zone.” I like to call it finding your groove.

And that’s the first invitation: to drop into that center and get clear on what your groove is today. Because it’s not always the same. Over the course of our lives, our energy, attention, and intention shift and evolve. What matters is not what was, but what is here now.

An expansive perspective came through on a walk in the hills today—thank you, angels.

As humans we arrive as a blank slate, taking in the world around us, and learning the lessons we’ve agreed to experience and transcend in this lifetime— our karma.

I know this to be true: I chose this life. Did you?

I’m grateful for the family, friends, teachers, mentors, and experiences that have helped me find my groove.

As a teacher and a channel of this divine information, it brings me joy to support others in finding theirs.

But here’s the truth: the groove can be momentary.

It’s a fleeting alignment, an ebb and flow with that center. If we can learn to recognize it, to build a relationship with that presence, then as life moves us through its highs and low, ins and outs, we can remember how to stay connected to the center—even if just a tendril at times. Stay connected.

The real work is remembering as you move through the complexities of being human.

For example, I recently spent 3 hours navigating the maze of finding a replacement for my Medicare plan outside of enrollment time. If you know that system, you understand. Throughout the process—researching, calling, questioning—I held onto a simple mantra: be nice.

Be nice. Be nice. Be nice.

I made sure my body was supported, sitting comfortably on the couch. I breathed deeply, and sipped water often. I could feel frustration, blame, and anger bubbling beneath the surface— thankfully in the background.

I asked my ego gently, “How can you be a little nicer?”

Even though it took time and many of the same conversations, I eventually found a solution with the help of a soft-spoken Texan who made the final decision feel easy.

So how might you respond in a similar situation? When what you need and desire isn’t happening so you’re invited instead to explore what is?

Find the solution.

Say thank you.

Then go for a walk in the hills and breathe.

When we meet each moment with curiosity instead of criticism, we begin to see that there isn’t a single perfect way to move through life. There is only this moment, and the choice of how we want to be.

Be in the flow, find your groove as you listen, soften, and stay centered.
